V.K Singh appointed acting DGP of Madhya Pradesh

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has given its approval to the appointment of Vijay Kumar Singh (IPS:1984:MP) as the Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh.

Singh has been given charge of DGP after incumbent DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla suffering from triple vessel disease and had to be rushed to Mumbai for a bypass surgery.

Singh’s appointment comes while the model code of conduct for the upcoming assembly elections is in place.

Voting would take place in Madhya Pradesh on November 28 while results would be announced on December 11.

The state government had sent a panel of three names including those of VK Singh, Sanjay Chaudhry and MS Gupt to the ECI for approving one of them as caretaker DGP.

VK Singh would continue to hold charge of Chairman of the MP Police Housing Corporation as well.
