Uttarakhand: Radha Raturi becomes first woman Chief Secretary

The Uttarakhand government, on Wednesday, appointed Radha Raturi (IAS:1988:UK) as the state's first woman Chief Secretary. Ms. Raturi is set to succeed Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (IAS:1988:UK), whose term has concluded today.

The Uttarakhand government, on Wednesday, appointed Radha Raturi (IAS:1988:UK) as the state’s first woman Chief Secretary. Ms. Raturi is set to succeed Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (IAS:1988:UK), whose term has concluded today. Dr. Sandhu, having been granted a six-month extension post-retirement, has completed his extended tenure.

Previously serving as the Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Secretariat Administration, Chief Minister’s Office, Home, and Jail, Radha Raturi’s elevation to the Chief Secretary position is a historic milestone. She now holds the distinction of being the first woman to occupy the highest administrative post in Uttarakhand since its establishment in November 2000.
