Senior IAS officer Anand Bardhan (IAS:1992:UK) was on Friday (28.03.2025) appointed as the Chief Secretary of the state, succeeding the incumbent Chief Secretary Radha Raturi (IAS:1988:UK), who is set to retire on March 31.

Widely regarded as one of the most honest and efficient officers in the cadre, Bardhan will take charge of the post on April 1, 2025. He will have a tenure of over two years, as he is set to retire in June 2027.

www.legendofficers.com had earlier reported that Bardhan was the frontrunner for the position. He was the only officer in the cadre with 30 years of experience, meeting the prerequisite condition for the Chief Secretary role. The next senior IAS officer in the gradation list is Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu, a 1997 batch officer.

While Anand Bardhan was recently empanelled as Secretary in the Government of India, it was evident that he would not pursue a central deputation and remain in the state administration instead.
