The Uttar Pradesh government has promoted senior IPS officer Alok Singh (IPS:1995:UP) to the rank of Director General (DG). He is currently serving as Additional Director General (ADG) of Kanpur Zone.

His elevation was on expected lines following the vacancy created by the retirement of Neera Rawat (IPS:1992:UP) on April 30, 2026. She was serving as DG, UP-112 and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

Alok Singh is the senior-most officer of the 1995 batch in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, and his promotion had been due.

It may be recalled that in March 2026, three IPS officers — LV Antony Dev Kumar (IPS:1994:UP), Prakash D (IPS:1994:UP), and Jai Narayan Singh (IPS:1994:UP) — were promoted to the DG rank following the retirement of three DG-rank officers in February 2026.
