Kumar Sanjay Bariar (IP&TA&FS:1993), currently serving as Additional Secretary (JS level) in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (September 15, 2025), the competent authority approved his premature repatriation to enable him to avail the benefit of promotion in his cadre.
Bariar was appointed as Additional Secretary (JS level) in UPSC in February 2024 for an overall tenure of five years ending on August 18, 2024. On July 23, he was granted a two-year extension till August 18, 2026. Prior to his posting in UPSC, he served as Joint Director General (Shipping), Mumbai, under the Ministry of Shipping. He had been appointed to that post in July 2019 for a tenure of five years.
