Former bureaucrat UP Singh (IAS:1985:OR) was named chairman of the newly constituted National Road Safety Board (NTSB) formed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Tuesday.
The body will comprise members with experience in various aspects of road safety. It will formulate specific standards for road safety, traffic management, and skill enhancement for traffic police and highway officials. It will advise the central and state governments on road safety and traffic management.
The formulation of road safety board was notified for the first time in 2021. It was part of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act of 2019.
