The Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh (IPS:1983:UP) retired on Friday. On the day of retirement, he was bid farewell to the Dodge Kingsway vintage car with a royal traditional farewell through a spectacular traditional ceremonial parade. The car has a traditional history used in the farewell ceremony of the Director-General of Police.
O. P. Singh has had an eventful tenure and will be remembered for introducing the police commissionerate system in two districts of the state.
He also has the credit of ensuring peace in the state after the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya temple, and the incident-free Kumbh Mela.
