In a bureaucratic rejig, two senior IAS officers working in the Prime Minister’s Office, AK Sharma and Tarun Bajaj, have been moved out to assume important economic roles.
Tarun Bajaj (IAS:1988:HY), currently an Additional Secretary in the PMO, has been appointed as the new Economic Affairs Secretary, and will assume his charge upon the retirement of incumbent Atanu Chakraborty on April 30.
Another Additional Secretary in the PMO, AK Sharma (IAS:1988:GJ), has been appointed Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. He will replace present incumbent Arun Kumar Panda on April 30.
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) took the decision on Sunday. These two departments will play a vital role in the post lockdown revival of the economy.
