Two senior IPS officers of Haryana cadre — Alok Mittal and Dr. Ashindra Singh Chawla — are set to be promoted to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP). The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) has cleared their promotions.
Following the DPC’s approval, the file will be routed to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini through the Home Secretary for final approval. Once the Chief Minister accords his consent, both officers will be formally elevated to the DG rank.
With these promotions, the total number of DGP-rank officers in Haryana will increase to seven.
At present, the DG-rank officers serving in the state include Mohammad Akol, Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, O.P. Singh, and Ajay Singhal.
Reportedly, most 1993-batch IPS officers across the country have already been promoted to the DG rank, and the process in Haryana is now nearing completion.
