Early Life and Education
Tukaram Mundhe was born on 3 June 1975 in Tadsonna village of Beed district, Maharashtra. He grew up in a farming family. His early schooling was at a Zilla Parishad school in his village.
After school, he moved to Aurangabad for higher education. He studied at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, where he completed his graduation and later his master’s degree in Political Science.
UPSC Journey and IAS Selection
Mundhe cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2004 and secured All India Rank 20. He joined the IAS as part of the 2005 batch and was allotted the Maharashtra cadre.
Before entering the IAS, he had also appeared for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission examination and had worked while continuing his preparation for the civil services.
Beginning of IAS Career
Tukaram Mundhe began his IAS career in Solapur. His early service included field-level responsibilities, where he gained experience in revenue administration, local development and district governance.

He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Washim and later as Additional Tribal Commissioner, Nashik.

One of the important stages of Mundhe’s career was his work as a district collector. He served as Collector and District Magistrate, Jalna from 2011 to 2012. He later became Collector of Solapur, where he worked from 2014 to 2016.
