IAS officer Sonal Goel (IAS:2008:TR) has applied for voluntary retirement from service (VRS). She submitted her VRS application to Chief Secretary JK Sinha (IAS:1996:TR) via email on Monday. The exact reason behind her sudden decision to retire voluntarily is unknown. Ms. Goel is currently serving as the Resident Commissioner at Tripura Bhavan, New Delhi.
It appears that IAS officer Sonal Goel had been transferred to Tripura as Secretary to the State Government on July 26. However, before assuming her new assignment in Tripura, she applied for voluntary retirement from service. Her sudden decision to retire voluntarily after being transferred to a new position in Tripura may have contributed to the sensation it created in the top echelons of the Tripura administration.
According to bureaucrats in the administration, Sonal Goel has maintained a cordial relationship across the administrative strata. She has been praised for her efficiency and dependability as an officer, earning appreciation from the Chief Minister for her adept handling of state affairs in the national capital.
It is worth noting that some other IAS officers from the Tripura cadre, including Yatendra Kumar (IAS:1996:TR), Manish Kumar, Anil Mishra, Sabahat Azim (IAS:2000:TR), DK Tegi, LK Gupta (IAS:1987:TR), and Kumar Alok (IAS:1990:TR), have also taken voluntary retirement in the past.
