The state government had earlier issued a notification to appoint a new chairman and invited applications. A total of 45 individuals applied, including retired IAS and IPS officers, as well as professors from various universities. Among the applicants, the government selected Burra Venkatesham for the position and forwarded the file to Raj Bhavan for approval. The Governor granted approval for the appointment on Saturday. Since Burra Venkatesham has another three and a half years of service, he may continue as TGPSC chairman until the age of 62. This means the new chairman is expected to serve for five and a half years, until 2030.
