IAS officer Tarun Kumar Pithode (IAS:2009:MP), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), has been appointed as Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (October 13, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal of the MoEF&CC to appoint Mr. Pithode to the post for an overall tenure of five years, up to September 8, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Mr. Pithode has been serving in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change since September 8, 2024. He was initially appointed as Director, later empanelled as Joint Secretary in September 2025, and subsequently assigned responsibilities in accordance with his new rank within the same month.
