Once again our prediction came true. The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday (29.06.2023) appointed senior IAS officer Shiv Das Meena (IAS:1989:TN) as the next Chief Secretary of the state. He will replace V Irai Anbu (IAS:1988:TN) who retires on June 30. Presently, he serves as Additional Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department (MAWS).
Our team on May 29 published a report indicating that senior IAS officer Shiv Das Meena might replace the incumbent Chief Secretary V Irai Anbu. There were a few contenders for the top post but Meena was ahead of all others.
It is pertinent to mention here that following the DMK government’s assumption of power in May 2021, Mr. Meena was repatriated to his parent cadre Tamil Nadu in the same month at the request of the state government. It was obvious that the newly formed dispensation in Tamil Nadu would assign special responsibilities to Mr. Meena.
Mr. Meena was Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board in Delhi, when the State government requested his repatriation. Since then, Mr. Meena has been serving as MAWS Secretary.
