Tamil Nadu : Chief Secretary K Shanmugan gets three months extension

Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary K Shanmugan (IAS:1985:TN) has been given three months extension till October 31, 2020 in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state. The Centre communicated this to the state government on Wednesday. Shanmugam assumed office on July 1, 2019 and he was to retire from service on July 31 this year.

The letter from the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said the department had received the Tamil Nadu government’s letter dated May 15, seeking the Centre’s nod for extending the tenure of Shanmugam for a period of three months and conveyed its approval for the extension.
