The Supreme Court on Thursday (27.07.2023) permitted Sanjay Kumar Mishra (IRS-IT:1984) to continue as ED Director till September 15. In its decision, the court said it considered the larger public interest. The court also said no further extension will be granted.
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court declared the extension of the ED chief invalid on July 11. The court ruled that Sanjay Mishra can lead the ED until July 31. On Wednesday, the central government again asked the SC for his tenure to be extended.
