The Uttarakhand government has clarified that the state government is not responsible for the empanelment of IPS officers at the Centre as it is not done at the level of the state government. According to it, the government plays a limited role like providing vigilance status and profiles of the concerned officers.

The government has clearly said that all the proceedings for empanelment of IPS officers at the Centre are under the jurisdiction of the Union Home Ministry.

The state government has also made it clear that in the context of empanelment of 2006 batch IPS officers, Sweety Agarwal, Arun Mohan Joshi, Anant Shankar Takwale and Rajiv Swaroop at IG level at the Centre in 2023, the government was asked only to provide the vigilance status and vigilance profile of the concerned officers.

The government also disclosed that as per the Government of India’s letters issued on two different dates in October, 2024, five officers of the 2004-05 batch, four officers of the 2007 batch and two officers of 1997 batch, vigilance status and profile forms were sent to the Centre on Nov 27, 2024.

These clarifications came through the press briefing released officially by the Uttarakhand government.
