KK Pathak (IAS:1990:BH), the Additional Chief Secretary of the Bihar Education Department, has submitted a request for an extension of his leave until January 31. Chief Secretary Aamir Subhani confirmed that Pathak, whose initial leave period concluded on Tuesday, has sought an extension from January 16 to January 31. This development has reignited speculation within the power corridors of Patna, speculating the potential appointment of a new Additional Secretary in the Education Department to replace KK Pathak. However, there is no official confirmation regarding his replacement at this point.
Assuming the role of Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department in June 2023, KK Pathak initially applied for earned leave from January 8 to January 14. Subsequently, he sought an extension until January 16. On January 9, the General Administration Department issued an order entrusting the complete responsibility of KK Pathak to Education Department Secretary Vaidyanath Yadav.
KK Pathak’s stringent working approach has led to discontent among various individuals, including the Governor, Education Minister, and MLAs.
