Senior IAS officer Shailesh Kumar Singh (IAS:1991:JH), who is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Rural Development, has been assigned the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Land Resources.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (January 1, 2026), the competent authority has approved the arrangement with immediate effect and until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The post of Secretary, Department of Land Resources was earlier held by Manoj Joshi (IAS:1989:KL), who took charge in March 2024 after Nidhi Khare (IAS:1992:JH) moved to the Department of Consumer Affairs as Secretary. At that time, Joshi had shifted from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), where he was serving as Secretary.
However, on November 20, 2025, the central government transferred Manoj Joshi as Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, necessitating the assignment of the department’s charge to another officer.
