Senior IPS officer Daljit Singh Chaudhary (IPS:1990:UP) has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (19.01.2024). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment to the post, extending until November 30, 2025, which aligns with his superannuation date. Presently serving as the Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Chaudhary is set to assume the leadership role at SSB. The top position in the central armed police force became vacant following the repatriation of Rashmi Shukla (IPS:1988:MH) to her cadre state Maharashtra earlier this month. Anish Dayal Singh (IPS:1988:MN), DG of CRPF, was assigned additional responsibilities upon Shukla’s repatriation. The SSB is tasked with guarding India’s frontiers with Nepal and Bhutan.
