Haryana bureaucracy received a major respite from the Supreme Court, which said no to the withdrawal of security provided to IAS officers of Haryana. The Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered recalling the security provided to IAS officers dealing with civil administration responsibilities or quasi-judicial work in its order on October 4.
The apex court has overruled this order, which means the security provided to IAS officers would continue.
There was consternation among IAS officers of the state after the High Court’s order of recalling security. So, the Haryana government moved the top court challenging the HC’s order.
Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih reversed the HC’s order while hearing a special leave petition (criminal) filed by the Haryana govt.
The SC ruled: “The orders passed by HC on aspects of security need not be acted upon. With the above directions, the appeal is disposed of.”
This order was released last week.
