The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of two Advocates as Judges of the Calcutta High Court. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Collegium held on October 8, Friday.
The names of the four Advocates are :
- Soubhik Mitter
- Sakya Sen
Notably, the name of Sakya Sen has been recommended by the Collegium for appointment as a High Court twice before.
Sen was first recommended for elevation as a High Court Judge in 2017. However, the Centre did not move forward with that recommendation. Sen was again recommended for a second time in 2019 by the Supreme Court Collegium.
The latest statement marks the third time the Sakya Sen has been recommended for Judgeship.
