SC Collegium recommends 7 names for Chief Justices of High Courts

The Supreme Court collegium on Wednesday (05.06.2023) recommended the appointment of Chief Justices of seven high courts-Kerala, Orissa, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Bombay, Telangana and Gujarat. If the same is approved by the central government, the Gujarat High Court will have the only woman Chief Justice of a High Court at present.

1. Justice Sunita Agarwal, senior-most puisne Judge of Allahabad High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court.
2. Justice Ashish J Desai, Acting Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, as the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court.
3. Justice Subhasis Talapatra, Judge of Orissa High Court, as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.
4. Justice Siddharth Mridul, Judge of Delhi High Court, as the Chief Justice of Manipur High Court.
5. Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur, Judge of Bombay High Court, as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.
6. Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Judge of Allahabad High Court, as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.
7. Justice Alok Aradhe, Judge of Karnataka High Court, as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court.
