Saurabh Garg (IAS:1991:OR), Secretary of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, has been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (30.05.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Saurabh Garg’s appointment to this post until his superannuation on July 31, 2024. After his retirement, he will continue in the role for an additional year on a contract basis or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Additionally, he will also discharge the functions as Secretary to National Statistical Commission.
Amit Yadav (IAS:1991:AGMUT) has been appointed as Secretary of Department of Social Justice & Empowerment. This shuffling of bureaucrats comes just three days after the DoPT issued an order on May 27, announcing that Yadav would take charge as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment until Saurabh Garg’s superannuation in July and then take over as secretary.
