Senior diplomat Sanjiv Ranjan (IFS:1993) was on December 30 appointed as the next Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA). Prior to this assignment, he was serving as Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of External Affairs.
In a statement, the MEA said, “Shri Sanjiv Ranjan will be the next Secretary General of the Indian Ocean Rim Association. He is an Indian Foreign Service Officer of 1993 batch and is presently Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry.”
“Shri Sanjiv Ranjan will take up the assignment shortly.” the statement added.
Notably, Ranjan’s appointment to the post was cleared on August 17, 2024 when the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the Ministry of External Affairs’ proposal to allow him to assume the role of Secretary General of the IORA Secretariat in Mauritius for a three-year term, including the period leading up to his superannuation on January 31, 2026.
