Senior IPS officer Sanjay Singhal (IPS:1993:UP) has been appointed as Special Director General of Border Security Force (BSF). He is currently serving as the head of the Establishment Board in UP Police at the ADGP rank.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (11.11.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Home Affairs to appoint Mr. Singhal to the post from the date of joining the post and upto 31.12.2028 i.e date of his superannuation or till further orders, whichever is earlier.
Singhal’s career includes significant contribution in the Indo-Tibetan Boarder Police (ITBP), where he served as DIG and later as Inspector General from 2008 to 2015. He was recognised for his service and received a medal during a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.
As an administrator, Singhal is known for his reformative impact on UP Police’s establishment board. During his four years term, he implemented changes in service rules and procedure for non-gazetted ranks, reinforcing efficiency and discipline within the force.
