The central deputation tenure of Sanjay Lohiya (IAS:1994:AM) as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Mines has been extended by two years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (May 30, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of his tenure till October 27, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Lohiya has been serving in the Ministry of Mines since October 2020, initially as Joint Secretary. In November 2020, he was among 30 IAS officers empanelled for holding Additional Secretary-level posts at the Centre. Subsequently, he was promoted and appointed as Additional Secretary in March 2021.
Prior to his central deputation, he served in the Assam cadre as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
