In a key appointment, the government has cleared the name of S Thirumalai Selvam, General Manager at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), for the post of Director (Projects), Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (September 6, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for Selvam’s induction.
Selvam will take charge from the date of his assumption of office and continue till his superannuation on June 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
SMFCL, under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, plays a vital role in financing port-led development and infrastructure projects across India under the Sagarmala Programme.
