S Suresh (IPS:1995:KL) has been elevated to the position of Additional Director General (ADG) within the Special Protection Group (SPG). Previously serving as the Inspector General (IG) of SPG, this promotion was formalized through an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted approval to the proposal put forth by the Office of the Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat, for Suresh’s appointment as ADG within the SPG. This entails temporarily upgrading one post of IG to the ADG level, a measure specifically tailored to accommodate this promotion for the officer.
