In a key bureaucratic reshuffle, senior IAS officer Rohit Kumar (IAS:1997:RJ), currently posted as Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the NITI Aayog.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (July 11, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment with immediate effect.
Additionally, the order extends Rohit Kumar’s central deputation tenure by one year beyond September 24, 2025—now up to September 24, 2026, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Rohit Kumar began his stint in the Cabinet Secretariat in May 2022 as Joint Secretary. He was later promoted to Additional Secretary level in September 2022. Prior to this, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Rural Development from September 2018.
