Ritu Ranjan Mittar and Maruthi Prasad Tangirala appointed as TRAI whole-time members

The central government has appointed Ritu Ranjan Mittar (Retd. ITS:1985) and Maruthi Prasad Tangirala (IP&TAFS:1990) as whole-time members of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

The central government has appointed Ritu Ranjan Mittar (Retd. ITS:1985) and Maruthi Prasad Tangirala (IP&TAFS:1990) as whole-time members of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Their tenure will be for three years, or until they reach the age of 65, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointments on Saturday.

Ritu Ranjan Mittar, a former Head and Advisor of the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), has over 30 years of experience in the Department of Telecommunications. Before leading TEC as Sr. DDG, he served as DDG (Telecom Security) in TEC, New Delhi.

Maruthi Prasad Tangirala, currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, has held key roles in the Department of Telecommunications, TRAI, IRDAI, and UPSC.

TRAI, which regulates India’s telecommunications sector, is headed by Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti, with Prof. Ranjan Bose and Neelkanth Mishra as part-time members, and Atul Kumar Chaudhary as Secretary.
