Former IPS officer K Vijay Kumar (Retd.IPS:1975:TN), Senior Security Advisor (SSA) to the Ministry of Home Affairs, expressed his wish to discontinue the post for personal reasons.

He had left for Chennai and informed the Home Ministry of his decision. The ministry has begun searching for a new advisor. Kumar vacated his Delhi accommodation as well and is not holding any office now.

In the past few weeks, Kumar, who handled and advised the government on Left Wing Extremism (LWE), has not attended key meetings at the top level. In light of the fact that the fight against Naxalism has reached its final phase, the government will appoint a new advisor. The ministry has not yet approved any names for the post.

Kumar was appointed as Senior Security Advisor to the Union Home Ministry in 2019 and was continuing in the post.
