Retired bureaucrats in Kerala are making hay after reappointment. Despite the state steeped in financial crisis, Kerala is paying high salary to the bureaucrats reappointed after retirement. It was revealed by none other than Finance Minister K N Balagopal himself through a written reply in the Assembly.

It was revealed by none other than Finance Minister K N Balagopal himself through a written reply in the Assembly.

According to him, former chief secretary KM Abraham is being paid a whooping Rs 6.37 lakh per month including pension after he was reappointed as chief principal secretary to the Chief Minister and KIIFB CEO after retiring as the state chief secretary. He receives Rs 3.87 lakh as KIIFB CEO and 2.5 lakh as service pension.

Abraham was reappointed in 2018 nd he has so far received Rs 2.73 crore as salary. Apart from Abraham there are at least three bureaucrats who are making a hay after getting reappointment at KIIFB. The person appointed as additional CEO there is being paid Rs 1.88 lakh. The special secretary and the senior General Manager get 1.10 and 1.11 lakh respectively. This salary is paid to them in addition to their pensions.
