The central government on Monday (21.04.2025) extended the tenure of RBI Deputy Governor T Rabi Sankar by one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his reappointment for a period of one year with effect from May 3, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Sankar was first appointed Deputy Governor on March 3, 2021, for a three-year term, which was extended by a year in 2024. A 1990 batch RBI officer, he has held several key roles in the central bank and served as Executive Director before his elevation to the Deputy Governor post.
