The Central government has approved the appointment of Ravi Shankar Chhabi (IPS:2007:UP) as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on central deputation. He is currently serving in Uttar Pradesh as DIG, Public Grievances, DGP Headquarters, Lucknow.
According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (January 19, 2026), the competent authority has cleared his appointment against an existing vacancy in the CRPF, in accordance with the usual terms and conditions governing central deputation.
Following the approval, the Uttar Pradesh government has been requested to relieve Chhabi immediately to enable him to assume charge of his new assignment at the Centre.
