The central government on Wednesday (18.12.2024) appointed Rama Mohan Rao Amara as Managing Director (MD) of State Bank of India (SBI). Presently serving as Deputy Managing Director of the SBI, Amara will hold the post for three years.
Amara will fill the vacancy created due to the elevation of CS Setty as Chairman of the country’s largest lender.
SBI’s leadership structure includes one Chairman and four Managing Directors. With Amara’s appointment, the fourth Managing Director position has now been filled.
Notably, the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) had recommended Amara’s name to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on September 2, 2024, after interviewing nine candidates.
