Rajiv Kumar assumes charge as new Election Commissioner of India

Rajiv Kumar (Retd.IAS:1984:JH) assumed the charge as the new Election Commissioner of India on Tuesday. Following the resignation of Ashok Lavasa (Retd.IAS:1980:HY), President Ram Nath Kovind on August 21 appointed Kumar as the new Election Commissioner.

Kumar was serving as the chairperson of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). His tenure was to end on April 28, 2023.
