Rajiv kumar (IAS:1984:JH) has been appointed as the new Secretary of Ministry of Finance on Tuesday. Presently, he was working as the Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS) at Ministry of Finance.
Kumar is credited with ushering in multiple reforms in the banking sector and providing a record amount of capital infusion in public sector banks.
He will succeed Subhash Chandra Garg (IAS:1983:RJ) as the Finance Secretary. Garg was transferred to the Power Ministry in the latest bureaucratic reshuffle on July 24.
