The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has finalised a panel of three senior IPS officers for the post of Director General of Police (DGP), Rajasthan, and sent it to the state government. The final decision now rests with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, and an official announcement is expected soon.
According to sources, the UPSC panel includes Rajeev Kumar Sharma (IPS:1990:RJ), Rajesh Nirwan (IPS:1992:RJ), and Sanjay Kumar Agrawal (IPS:1992:RJ).
Rajeev Kumar Sharma, who appears to be leading the race among the three shortlisted officers, was earlier reported as the front-runner by our platform www.legendofficers.com on June 10. He is currently on central deputation as DG, Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D). Rajesh Nirwan is serving as DG, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), also on central deputation, while Sanjay Agrawal is presently posted as Director General, Intelligence, in Rajasthan.
The panel was finalised during a meeting held at the UPSC office in New Delhi on Friday, which was attended by State Chief Secretary Sudhanshu Pant and Acting DGP Ravi Prakash Meharda. The meeting lasted nearly two hours, during which the names recommended by the state government were reviewed in detail. Following this, the panel was sent back to the state for final selection.
