In a significant development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Monday (September 15, 2025) approved the appointment of senior IPS officer Rajamurugan Muthukalathi (IPS:1996:TR) as Managing Director of the Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
According to an official order, Muthukalathi will assume charge of the post on deputation basis, with his tenure lasting until the date of his superannuation on November 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The position has been temporarily downgraded to the level of Joint Secretary for this appointment.
The Government of Tripura has been requested to relieve Muthukalathi immediately, enabling him to take up his new assignment at the Centre.
