Rahul Rastogi gets one year extension in CIC as Joint Secretary

Rahul Rastogi’s central deputation in CIC extended by one year till August 29, 2026, per DoPT order.

The central deputation tenure of Rahul Rastogi (ITS:1998) as Joint Secretary (Director level) in the Central Information Commission (CIC) has been extended by one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (July 23, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the CIC’s proposal to extend Mr. Rastogi’s deputation tenure up to August 29, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Notably, Mr. Rastogi was first appointed to the CIC in July 2019 as Joint Secretary (Director level) for a period of five years. He assumed charge on August 30, 2019. In April 2024, before the end of his tenure, the ACC approved an extension until August 29, 2025. With this latest order, he will continue in the role until August 29, 2026.
