In a significant administrative development, the Punjab government on Friday (25.04.2025) suspended IPS officer Surender Pal Singh Parmar (SPS:1997), who was serving as Chief Director of the Vigilance Bureau, SAS Nagar. The suspension is effective immediately, with senior IPS officer Praveen Kumar Sinha (IPS:1994:PB) assigned additional charge of the post.

Sinha currently holds the position of ADGP, NRI Affairs, SAS Nagar, and also holds additional charge as ADGP, Intelligence.

According to the official order, Parmar has been suspended on grounds of grave misconduct and dereliction of duty. During his suspension period, his headquarters will be the office of the Director General of Police, Punjab, in Chandigarh, and he is barred from leaving without the express permission of the competent authority.

Notably, Parmar was appointed as Chief Director of Vigilance only recently, on March 26, 2025, making his suspension a particularly striking move in such a short span of tenure.
