The Punjab government has made the decision to reinstate senior IAS officer Dhirendra Kumar Tiwari (IAS:1994:PB) approximately one month after he was placed under suspension, along with another IAS officer, in connection with the dissolution of panchayats in the state.
The reinstatement decision was taken by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday. Mr. Tiwari, who had served as Principal Secretary in the Rural Development and Panchayats Department, also held the additional responsibility of Principal Secretary for Water Supply and Sanitation.
Dhirendra Kumar Tiwari and Gurpreet Khaira (IAS:2009:PB), who was the Director of Rural Development and Panchayats, were initially placed under suspension on August 31 due to the premature dissolution of panchayats. Subsequently, the government had to retract the dissolution orders following legal challenges.
