IPS officer Praveen Sood (IPS:1986:KN) was appointed on Sunday as the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for two years by the high-powered selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sood will take over from Subodh Kumar Jaiswal (IPS:1985:MH) as his tenure ends on May 25. Presently, Sood is serving as DGP of Karnataka.
On Saturday, the selection committee headed by PM Modi shortlisted three names for the post of CBI Director and sent them to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet: Praveen Sood, DGP (Karnataka); Sudhir Kumar Saxena, DGP(Madhya Pradesh); and Taj Hassan, Director General, Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards.
