The Centre on Saturday (May 2, 2026) appointed noted lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi as Chairman of Prasar Bharati.
He fills the post that had been vacant since December 2025 following the resignation of Navneet Kumar Sehgal.
Joshi is currently serving as Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), a position he has held since August 2017.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw welcomed the appointment, saying, “Under his stewardship, Prasar Bharati will discover renewed energy, deeper purpose, and a fresh creative voice. My very best wishes to him for a memorable and meaningful tenure ahead.”
