New Delhi, May 19, 2025: Prashant Agarwal (IRSS:2002), currently serving as Director in the Department of Higher Education, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (19.05.2025), the competent authority has approved the proposal of Department of Higher Education to repatriate Mr Agarwal to his parent cadre to avail the benefit of promotion.
Prashant Agarwal was initially appointed as Director in the Department of Higher Education in January 2018 and assumed charge on February 14, 2018, for a five-year tenure. His tenure was later extended in March 2023 for two more years up to February 14, 2025. Subsequently, in October 2024, his deputation was extended again up to December 14, 2025, taking into account his participation in the Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration from July 1, 2022 to April 28, 2023.
Although his extended tenure was originally scheduled to end in December 2025, he has now been repatriated nearly six and a half months early to facilitate his promotion in the parent cadre.
