PESB recommends Sridhar Nadimatla’s name as CMD of NMDC

Sridhar Nadimatla (IAS:1997:TG) has been selected for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on March 18, 2023.

Sridhar Nadimatla (IAS:1997:TG) has been selected for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on March 18, 2023. Presently, he is serving as CMD, Singareni Collieries Co. Ltd.

He will be appointed to the post of CMD of NMDC after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

The following 07 applicants were interviewed in the selection meeting :

  6. Ashok Kumar Verma, Higher Administrative Grade, Indian Railways Stores Service
  7. Sridhar Nadimatla, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Indian Administrative Service

Why Sridhar Nadimatla?

Sridhar Nadimatla has vast experience in the mining sector besides being an excellent civil administrator. He took over as Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Co. Ltd (SCCL), Government of Telangana State in 2015. SCCL is a government-owned coal mining corporation. It is under the ownership of the Department of Energy, Government of Telangana. The Union Government’s administration of the company is through 49 percent ownership held by the Ministry of Coal.

SCCL’s performance has remained outstanding under Sridhar Nadimatla, and the company is moving along the path of growth. Under his leadership, SCCL has innovated in a number of ways, including 20 opencast mines and 25 underground mines in 6 districts of Telangana (formerly 4 districts of AP).

The company is involved in coal extraction in Telangana, in the Pranhita-Godavari Valley region, which has significant coal reserves, estimated at 8.79 billion tonnes. Ramagundam is one of the most important divisions of the Singareni Collieries Company.
