The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Saturday (16.11.2024) extended the tenure of Mallika Srinivasan as Chairperson of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) by one year. Her term now runs from November 19, 2024, to November 18, 2025, or until further orders. This extension surpasses the usual retirement age of 65.
Srinivasan is the first private sector specialist, who has been appointed as the head of the PESB. Prior to assuming office, Srinivasan was Chairman and Managing Director of Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE) Limited.
She was originally appointed as the Chairperson of PESB in April 2021, succeeding Rajeev Kumar (Retd IAS:1984:JH), for a period of three years or till 65 years. In March this year, the tenure was extended from April 9, 2024, to November 18-the date she attained the age of 65 years. The extension, announced two days before her scheduled retirement on November 18, 2024, reflects the administration’s continued confidence in her leadership.
