Senior IPS officer Patel Piyush Purushottam Das (IPS:1998:GJ) has been appointed to the position of Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) for a designated term of five years. As outlined in an official directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday (21.08.2023), the appointment of Mr. Das has garnered approval from the competent authority. He will serve in this capacity on a deputation basis, commencing from the date he assumes charge of the position or until further instructions are issued—whichever eventuality transpires earlier. Notably, prior to this assignment, he held the position of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Surat Range.
