The central government on Saturday (June 28, 2025) appointed senior IPS officer Parag Jain (IPS:1989:PB) as the new Chief of the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW). He will succeed Ravi Sinha (IPS:1988:CG), whose term ends on June 30. Jain will assume charge on July 1 for a fixed tenure of two years.

Jain is currently the second-most senior officer in RAW and heads the Aviation Research Centre (ARC), a key technical wing of the agency. He played a crucial role in Operation Sindoor, India’s precision response following the Pahalgam terror attack. Under his leadership, ARC provided actionable intelligence on Pakistani military movements using a blend of HUMINT (human intelligence) and TECHINT (technical intelligence).
